Our Designer’s blog

Here it is August already, and the days are starting to get shorter.  I’ve had my creativity enhanced with our daughter’s wedding the end of October.  I was in Denver for 10 days at the end of July picking out a wedding dress, brides maids dresses, a flower girl dress, and I have to tell you “I LOVE fabrics”!  What designer doesn’t?!  It doesn’t matter if it’s custom window treatments or wedding dresses.  I think it’s the colors that really entice me, and the play of patterns and textures.  I’d almost like to make the brides maids dresses out of decorator fabrics, however this wouldn’t work for my bride.

Which brings me to talk about the newest fabric colors being shown in the market place. If you go to the Pantone Color Website, you can see the newest colors in the fashion industry. What’s very intriguing is that very soon you will soon see these same colors showing up in home decor as well.  Some of the colors for 2011 are Honeysuckle (the Color of the Year according to Pantone), Coral Rose, Peapod, Beeswax, Silver Peony, Russet, Blue Curacao,  Lavender, and Silver Cloud.  You can actually see these colors and more at the my link for Pantone. Today, the PANTONE name is known worldwide as the standard language for accurate color communication in code form, from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer, across a variety of industries.  Each year various color related companies forecast, meaning select what will be the featured colors for that season or year. From that pallet come most of the fabric color offerings across any industry that wants to be seen as progressive  and in step with the market place.  (I’ll expand on this next time…)
