Window Blind Recalls Due to “Dangling Cords”

From time to time there are things that are done with safety in mind.  Here are a couple links that may interest you if you have young children or grandchildren in your home.

Kids and Cords Don’t Mix

In December 2009, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and theWindow Covering Safety Council (WCSC) announced a voluntary recall to repair all Roman shades and roll-up blinds to prevent the risk of strangulation to young children. CBS News reports on the Millions of Window Shades, and Blinds Recalled.

While these product recalls were mainly for the roll-up match stick wooden shades and Roman shades, dangling cords need to be wrapped up around cord cleats when ever your blind is raised.   The danger from the loose cords affects your pets, as well as small children.

ATTENTION PARENTS & NEW HOME OWNERS: IF YOU HAVE DANGLING CORDS ON ANY BLINDS, THESE NEED TO BE SECURED OR WRAPPED UP on plastic cord cleats. If you need cord cleats for any of your window blinds - PLEASE CALL US AND WE CAN PROVIDE THEM for a nominal charge.          (509)-531-1932
